Jenny Griesel is one of South Africa's most respected media and marketing specialists. She brings over fifteen years of experience in media, communications, marketing strategy and management to the to the projects run by her boutique communications consultancy. Based in Pretoria, South Africa, Jenny Griesel Communications consults to brands requiring specialized, marketing, communications, PR and media services.
Jenny was the Marketing Manager at Jacaranda FM, one of South Africa's largest independent radio stations. Landmark successes during her tenure include relaunching the brand's corporate identity, launching the first annual Jacaranda Day, launching & creative directing Jacaranda Pops, managing the 5th & 6th annual Sisters with Blisters walks, leading Jacaranda's Purple Rhino Project and contributing to growing the station's audience in Gauteng. Jenny also spearheaded a research project for the advertising trade that revealed the formidable value of the Pretoria market.
Prior to this, she excelled in marketing and brand management roles at SABC 2, Ster-Kinekor and Givenchy, where her work was acknowledged with various accolades. While at Givenchy, her portfolio grew above the market average during recession years, and the brand enjoyed unprecedented media interest. During her tenure at SABC 2, she crafted formidable communications and marketing initiatives that launched new successful new initiatives, and stimulated new interest in various longstanding shows. At Ster-Kinekor, she crafted various strategies that are still in effect today for both the Ster-Kinekor and Cinema Nouveau brands.
Having grown up in Johannesburg, Jenny studied BA (Communications and French) at the University of Johannesburg. This institution also planted the seed for her media career, as she joined the campus radio station (then RAU Radio), as a presenter and worked her way up to the position of Station Manager. It was her foresight in this role that saw this station earn its FM License, build a new studio and move into a profit-making position.
After relocating to Pretoria, Jenny studied Intellectual Property Law, Environmental Law, and completed a BA (Honours) through UNISA (University of South Africa), achieving a distinction for her thesis that scrutinized the Needletime Music Policy in South Africa.
Jenny is a board member on the Rory Hensman Elephant Conservation and Research Unit NGO and a strategic advisor on the Tuks FM Advisory Board at the University of Pretoria. Known for her philanthropy, she has supported and participated in initiatives including the Sky Dive for Rhinos, the Dian Vossey Gorilla Fund, StopRhinoPoaching.com, Be The Hero Foundation, Spar Women’s Race and the Hanna Charity and Empowerment Foundation. Jenny has invested a significant amount of time in rhino protection, for which she was recently presented with a Rhino Conservation Award by the Department of Environmental Affairs and Game Rangers Association of Africa. She is acknowledged in renowned conservationist Ian Player’s book “Rhino Keepers” for her contribution to responsible media management around this cause. She championed the now annual “Walk for Elephants with Elephants” and recently featured on the television programme, Kwêla, for her commitment to elephant conservation in South Africa.

An avid researcher, she constantly stays abreast of trends in the South African media landscape and provides communications services to some of the country’s biggest brands.
