Gordon Ramsay Uncharted 2

As part of Jenny Griesel Communication’s public relations services to the National Geographic Channel, we managed the PR for the launch of Gordon Ramsay Uncharted 2 on the channel. Uniquely, the first episode was filmed in South Africa, which provided the exceptional opportunity to start the publicity campaign with a media set visit and experience.

Highlights of this campaign included:

  • Well managed set visit while the production was filming in Kwa-Zulu Natal. Journalists were taken to set, interviewed Gordon Ramsay and Zola Nene. Embargoes were implemented and adhered to.
  • High media attendance at the virtual launch event where media cooked along with Zola Nene cooking their own chakalaka as was made in the show
  • Widespread publicity for the series including on other television channels, on prime time radio shows, in print and online
  • Several large editorial features covering various facets of the programme to entice viewers
  • A media partnership was concluded with Food 24, South Africa’s biggest food website. This further amplified the publicity campaign and treated viewers to additional content such as recipes and behind-the-scenes videos
  • High audience ratings for the programme on the channel
